Free, Single and Disengaged.
It’s marriage season! Many people around me are either getting married, engaged or beginning to date. It’s amazing to see the promises of God fulfilled in the lives of friends and acquaintances. Friends who have produced fruit from their individual walk with Christ and are now joining with someone else in the kingdom to live out the rest of their days. It does leaves me wondering though, what about me? God has a plan for each of his children and those plans are laid out nice and clear in Jeremiah 29:11. So why am I still free, single and disengaged?! I love the same God! I’m on the same walk…right? WRONG.

It’s taken some searching, but I’ve finally come to realize
that I am not free, single and disengaged. I am attached at the hip to my LORD.
I decided to forsake my own desires and follow after Jesus in May of 2011. In
choosing to make the Lord my savior, I entered into a covenant relationship
with him. One in which I have surrendered FULL control and given him the wheel.
Where he takes me I will go, not grudgingly but willingly.
The season of singlehood is a time to be drawing near to
Christ, not to be anxiously waiting for our future boo to come along. A
relationship with God is the most precious thing a person can have. There’s
nothing greater than our God, who loves us so much that he is willing to
forgive our sins (through Jesus), all for the hope that our heart will reflect his and we can
then fellowship with him in heaven. We are a work in progress. I AM A WORK IN
PROGRESS. I’m learning to be thankful for the seasons that God has prepared for
ME, not Sally Sue or Samantha, but for ME. My walk with God is unique; my
relationship with God is personal and individualized. I am apart of the church,
HIS church. I am HIS bride and to I will keep my vows.
Be thankful for each and every season. God has a plan and a
purpose…ALWAYS.
